THERE IS HOPE
Job 14:7
"At least there is hope for a tree: If it is cut down, it will sprout again, and its new shoots will not fail.”
Way back in the village, when I was a little boy. Those days we had a lot of mango trees along the road and in their season we do enjoy Mangoes a lot. fortunately or unfortunately for us, the government was extending electricity to our village and the neighboring villages as well. For that matter, they started cutting down our fruitful Mango trees.
Hmmm,it was a bitter sweet situation for us anyway, “but how for do?” It was bitter because, most people take it as food, which was popularly known as “Le avuà" in our local dilect which means: “Calmer” but the excitement about the extension of electricity to our village overshadowed that feeling of loss for the Mango trees because we will no longer have to trek miles to watch movies which you will even pay for.
We thought all was over with the Mango tress but during raining season, they started sprouting again and some years later we started enjoying our road side Mangoes .
God has good plans for mankind but the devil always tries to distract the Lord’s plans for us that’s why the scripture says in Jeremiah 29: 11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. These are the plans God have for us, but the enemy’s own is vice versa. That is why, when things are going on well with you and you are extending alms to people then suddenly, some great misfortune will turn everything upside down like the Mango tree I’ve made a reference earlier,it was growing well and producing good fruit for human consumption but the unexpected happened and it was cut off but later on, it started growing again. At the time you’ve been confronted with the challenges of life, you just need to be trusting the LORD,that is why the hymn writer comes with this lyrics MHB 517
1: SIMPLY trusting every day, Trusting through a stormy way; Even when my faith is small, Trusting Jesus, that is all. Trusting as the moments fly, Trusting as the days go by, Trusting Him whate’er befall, Trusting Jesus, that is all.
Sometimes,God allow the enemy to have access to our material possessions like what happened to Job in the Bible but one thing he denied the devil to get from us is our spirit as the saying goes “ since there is life there is hope" the tree heart is the root, since it has not been uprooted it will definitely shoot again.
In one of Bishop Dr. Hilliard Dogbe’s Preaching(Presiding Prelate for the Western West Africa Episcopal District of the A.M.E Zion Church) in our International Youth Conference(IYC) some years back in the University of Ghana, He said “God’s delay is not a deny" that is why the scripture says in Habakkuk 2:3For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end, it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.
Things may be going bad with you at the moment. It might be God putting you on trials,you just need to continue trusting the LORD as the tree also hope for a little drop of water from Above, which will make it sprout again may your hope continue to be in the LORD.
