I LOVE YOU

Text: John 13: 34 A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you also must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are My disciples, if you love one another.”

Many of us fell in love due to one reason or the other. Studies show that love have been classified into several groups and they are:

Eros (sexual passion)

Philia (deep friendship)

Ludus (playful love)

Agape (love for everyone)

Pragma (longstanding love)

Philautia (love of the self)

Storge (family love)

Mania (obsessive love)

So with the above stated classification, I believe you can agree with me that many people fell into love, due to one reason or the other and with that brief explanation, I believe you will understand the love you have for the people around you and after further explanation, you will get to know the love we need to put first before developing the rest. A young man or a young lady may decide to enter into a relationship because of Eros at a certain point in his or her life because that’s what seems right to them. But do you ask yourself if that is the love Jesus was urging us to exhibit?

I’ve come to realize that, every love has its time to be display and the time to exercise it and also love develop from one stage to the other. I see love to be a fruit bearing plant and what is demanded from the farmer is, nursing it, for it to develop and bear good fruits. That should tell you that the classification of love and its achievements takes a lot of time and if you don’t wait for it, you will jump into things which you will regret aftermaths.

The love Christ was portraying in the scripture above is Agape love and Agape love is really a broad topic for discussion. When you read the scriptures, at some point in time, my bible says, Jesus Christ had compassion on this person and that person; and out of Agape love, he did several healings and deliverance. I remembered John 11: 35 Jesus wept.36 Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” Do your actions draw the attention of others about the genuine love you have for someone? Out of that love again, Jesus came to died for our sins Romans 5: 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. You and I know he has been sent to the lost sheep of Israel but through that great love, we the pagans have been saved.

To conclude, I believe love to be a doing word. So for us to be seen as disciples of Jesus Christ, we need to demonstrate that love through our actions.

Happy Valentines Day! Show someone that Agape love.

Jesus loves you ❤️❤️❤
